The All American Rock ‘n Roll Show!

This week’s blog has some great news for Kris Bell fans.  In a joint venture with another Nashville band, Blackwater James, the Kris Bell Band will be heading out on the road as part of the “All American Rock n Roll Show”!  Two bands, each with a full-length set, coming together to kick ass and take names.  For more information, check out the Video Spotlight from Nashville Metal Bands.  Thanks to Ray LeGrand and team for excellent coverage, as always!

Tons of people are pouring in to experience the music, excitement and all that the country music world has to offer up in Nashville…. but  enjoying the acoustic music of Kris Bell is where you want to be!  Not one but TWO shows at theNashville Dinner Theater (Boots Randolph Room) in the historic Printer’s Alley area of downtown this coming weekend.  Kris plays at 11 pm on Saturday, June 11 and at 6:30 on Sunday, June 12.  If you are in the area… get there!  Love the full band shows but those acoustic shows just hit the right chord!  If you get there, ask Kris to play THIS CROSS for me….and THE MATCH for Laura.  You’ll be glad you did! ;) And remember…still MORE shows coming for Kris in June, July, and beyond.  Check one out SOON!

Writing’s on the Wall…

I love it when musicians–especially hard rock musicians–have an acoustic show.  To me, it’s the best way to find out whether a songwriter is a true artist or a poser.  Music that stands up to being stripped down is art.  Kris Bell is definitely an artist as well as a musician.  He showed how good of an artist he is in Tullahoma this past Friday when he played three hour-long sets at London’s Sports Bar.

Kris was joined by his bass player John Cooper in a small dark corner of the bar, where they entertained the crowd and gained new fans by playing lots of covers and some of Kris’ more rockin’ originals.  I really enjoyed the fact that Coop joined Kris, because it allowed them to play songs Kris hasn’t played acoustic in the past–songs like “Texas Flood,” “Little Wing,” and “Gimme Shelter.”  He also hit originals like “Runnin’ Out on You,” “Hope You’re Proud,” and “Will I Believe.”

London’s started out pretty busy and got even more crowded as the night went on.  People danced, rocked out, and bought CD’s!  The best selling point was that Kris was available to sign their CD’s during the breaks. That really seemed to be the tipping point when people decided to purchase the CD.  Two people–at different times in the night–wouldn’t buy a CD until Kris played an original song.  They were REALLY interested in hearing what Kris could do.  They both went home with autographed CD’s, for sure!

Surprisingly enough, I didn’t take many pictures.  The room was darkish, and, well, it was an acoustic show, so Kris and Coop just sorta sat there :)  I spent my time chatting with the people there, making sure they knew Kris had CD’s for sale.  I did get video of the entire show, some of which will be uploaded to YouTube.  I had originally planned on posting a video of “The Wrong Road,” but I changed my mind.  I always love when Kris plays this song, and acoustic is no exception.  I love the boys’ grins at the end of the song…
