Welcome Home, Lonely Souls

When Kris Bell first shared this song, an instrumental on acoustic guitar, I thought it was beautiful, wistful, mournful, yet somehow joyful all at once.  A few weeks later, a group of us were together at Paris’ house getting ready to see another band.  We were killing time surfing the ‘net and caught Kris setting up his web cam.  As the group of us gathered around the computer screen, Kris treated us to a “live” performance of this song.  We all stood there in silence just listening to the magic being created on the guitar.  This video captures the spontaneity of that moment, while still conveying the emotions I felt when first hearing the song.  It’s an great song, delicate and simple, yet so complex.  Take a listen.

On a not-so-unrelated note:  Kris, I may be over the whole red shirt thing… ;)

A Rockin’ Weekend Coming Up!

This week is a big week in the Nashville area….. CMA Fest is happening, lots and lots of people, live music, and fun going on.  But all around there will be live music that has nothing to do with those festivities.  I personally will be taking in some of the more rockin’ variety of music, courtesy of the Kris Bell Band.  Always makes for a weekend full of friends, fun, and amazing music!

On Friday, June 12th, they will be playing at Bison’s Bar and Grill in Madison, Alabama.  With Madison just a couple of hours away from Nashville, it’s just a nice little road trip and you will get  to hear some AWESOME rock music as a result!  The band is scheduled to play at 8:30.

Whoo hoo….I love a double-header weekend… and this is one of those… YEA!

On Saturday, June 13th,  Kris and the guys will be playing at Graffiti Bar in Murfreesboro, TN.  10:00 is show time and it ought to be a rockin’ time for all!!

So while you are in Nashville, enjoying what the CMA Fest has to offer….. don’t forget to check out the Kris Bell Band at one or both of these locations!
Lisa :)

P.S.  By the way, did you hear Kris’ interview on The Buzz last night?  It was some great “on the radio” time for Kris….with 3 of his songs being played.  Check it out here at the fan site if you missed it.

A Little Snapshot

Every show I get the chance to see Kris Bell and the band (John Cooper, Shane Sexton, and Bryan Denton) do impresses and amazes me soooooo much.  They rock!  They excel at what the do…and they just keep getting better and better.  If you haven’t had the pleasure, there are a few shows already on the calendar in June and July.  You really should check them out!

Let me just give you a little snapshot of what their fans experience… while I am still fresh from the show last weekend at Limelight in Nashville.  (Then, go check out the photos, audios, and videos from all the fans over at the fan forum!  You will want to! :) )

Rebel Yell ~ Kris Bell Band
Limelight Nashville, May 22, 2009
Video by BoLisa

Music from soft, slower rock all the way to hard-hitting ROCK… Kris’ own songs and covers… guitars wailing, drums keeping the beat, and a bass line you can’t miss.  Songs that were meant to get the fans involved and moving.  Kris’ vocals…WOW…Coop’s jokes… LOL… a band that shines together!  I’ve seen other bands, and miss seeing the closeness that I see with these guys…. it is something to behold.  Covers new and old to the audience just keep us smiling… “Too Rolling Stoned”,  a couple of new ones this show including “Rebel Yell” which was truly awesome, and of course, gotta end the show with “Free Bird”… and that is one remarkable experience.  When Kris said “Why don’t ya’ll come up on stage.  Come up ON the stage!” this show, what a new and unforgettable experience…  it was soooooo cool!  Never a dull moment…  Always something new and unique and NEVER ever the same or boring!  Kris’ own music…the best part…  He puts his heart and soul into those songs, and it is something else to experience those emotions and feelings … ”Letter of Goodbye”, “The Match”, “Livin’ for Tomorrow”, and “Feed the Beast” just to name a few…such a variety…each with the Kris Bell stamp on it without a doubt.  I love them all!  It is sooooo bittersweet to hear those words, “Thank you so much.  We are the Kris Bell Band.” at the end of the show…  it’s over, until the next time.

I don’t get to go to as many shows as I would like to…  More than some, less than others… but lately I have had the pleasure of going to several in a row.  I’ll admit it… it feels good!  Looking forward to a lifetime more of them to see.  Kris’ little play on words in “Rebel Yell” made us smile (and we keep smiling about it LOL)… but it is true, “…like a Rebel Belle, she cried more, more, more, more, more, more!” and we always will… for more shows, more music, more of the Kris Bell Band!  I found this quote by Bonnie Raitt the other day, and I liked it…  It fits…  “I think my fans will follow me into our combined old age.  Real musicians and real fans stay together for a long, long time.”  Guess you are stuck with us Kris… Hope that’s ok. ;)
